Adolescent Gynecology & Counseling
The health care professionals at Carolina OB/GYN offer adolescent gynecology and counseling to growing girls and young women. Through a full spectrum of services, we can provide the guidance and specialized care your child needs throughout their development. We recognize the sensitive nature associated with this time of life and we exercise the utmost compassion, empathy, and respect while treating each patient we work with.
Expert Care in a Safe Environment
We hope to impart to women of all ages the importance of caring for their bodies. Our doctors and nurse practitioners are adept at diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions that affect the female reproductive organs. Maintaining regular checkups through visits to a health professional is a key factor in preventing health problems. It also assists with early detection of certain conditions so they can be addressed before they progress. For younger girls, we will discuss what to expect from future gynecological visits along with ways to stay healthy.
Conditions we treat and counseling we provide includes:
- Menstrual disorders
- Contraceptive care
- Vaccinations
- Endometriosis
- Emotional ups and downs
- Ovarian cysts
- Pelvic pain
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Precocious puberty and delayed puberty
- Teenage acne
- Testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
- Vaginal discharge
- Vaginal trauma
- Yeast infections
Our Care is Always Confidential
During a visit, we may broach highly personal matters regarding your daughter’s menstrual cycle and sexual activities. As is true with every patient we treat at Carolina OB/GYN, anything discussed with one of our health care providers is strictly confidential. The exception is if we suspect that your child may harm themselves or others, or if they are not capable of making decisions on their own. Regardless, we always encourage our patients to remain open with their parent or guardian about their health concerns so that they can receive the necessary care and support at home.
